There’s not a single day that goes by that I’m not researching some latest, greatest advice on how to be a better mother. I’ve kind of always lived by the rule: “There’s always room for improvement,” so I apply that to myself and my parenting style. Last night I was going through some drawers filled with special keepsakes onto which I’ve held since Roman was born. I discovered a box filled with the “Words of Wisdom” cards my friends and family filled out for me at my baby shower. I began going through the cards (over 50 of them) and I was overwhelmed with emotions. Happiness, laughter, gratitude, tears of joy! At a time when I feel like I’m struggling to be the perfect mom and trying to keep up, I was reminded to slow down, quit worrying about making mistakes, and enjoy these moments.
It was an awesome reminder of how lucky I am to be surrounded by supportive friends and family who, even before I was a mommy, filled me up with confidence, encouragement, and priceless advice.
For those of you who celebrated with me that day, I love you and thank you for being by my side and for taking the time to fill out these cards. Means the world to me!
