I can’t believe I’m already halfway through my pregnancy. It has gone by so quickly, and I’m afraid I’m not taking it all in. Chasing after an active toddler and keeping up with life almost makes me forget I’m pregnant some days. I’m looking forward to the next few months of warmer weather here in Michigan, especially to rock my bikini bump, and spending some quality time as a family of three before our little girl makes her debut.
As my belly seems to grow bigger everyday, I’ve been working really hard at the gym to maintain my shape. I love my belly and my growing baby, but I’ll admit the physical changes pull on my insecurities at times. We hear it everywhere: “Embrace your body while pregnant!” And while I often do, there are moments I feel uneasy, as I expect many women do. Feeling and talking about that vulnerability is important for my sanity as well as, I assume, many others’. In an effort to document and celebrate this stage of my pregnancy, I decided to do a maternity shoot while we were in Miami (check out the Miami recap here). I really wanted a chance to wear a bikini on the beach and rock the bump!
So, before we arrived in Miami, I started researching photographers. I came across Richard Guaty and instantly fell in love with his work. When I found Richard through his Instagram account, I felt like I struck gold! We agreed to do a relaxed, natural beach shoot on the last day of the trip. The day of the shoot I was so nervous! My belly and breasts seemed to have grown even bigger overnight, and I was feeling like everything was fitting extra tight. Richard was awesome, he immediately made me feel comfortable in my skin and reminded me this was all about having fun and honoring my belly! Here are some of my favorite pictures from my Miami maternity shoot.
