Isabella’s Birth Story

by | Nov 8, 2016 | Family, Pregnancy

For months I visualized the birth of my second child. I wanted my labor to be quick and seamless, and so in my journal–where I usually jot down personal goals–I wrote: “fast birth” and “short pain.”

When we write things down, I believe those intentions and goals become ingrained, helping us visualize those desires as realities. It seems I manifested what I hoped for!

On October 2, around 6am., my husband drove me to Providence Hospital’s Natural Birthing Center. A midwife and a nurse (both of whom had by coincidence had helped me during Roman’s birth three years before) were waiting for me with a wheelchair as soon as we pulled up. Immediately, I undressed and I breathed deeply and swayed back and forth, just as I had practiced, trying to calm my body, waiting for the moment to push. Within 20 minutes I was pushing.

Just like most, my labor was full of pain and nausea. There’s no denying that! My body shook, I threw up from the nausea, and my hair was messy in a side-pony. But it was quick–only two hours from the first contraction to birth! For that I am thankful. And on top of it, I welcomed a beautiful, healthy daughter, Isabella Rose Morris, at 8:34 a.m. on October 2, 2016, 7 pounds.
