I partnered up with my dear friend Anuja Tolia, the owner and creator of Anuja, to host an event that’d celebrate and bring together women in our Detroit community. Our “Layering and Pairing” with Anuja Tolia Jewelry & Local Detroit Female Influencer both promoted Anjua’s jewelry line and was an opportunity to celebrate so many powerful women doing big things. Because we don’t take enough time to truly celebrate all the goodness we’re all doing!
On October 3, 2019 at Prime + Proper in Detroit, we invited 25 local bloggers and influencers to come together for an evening of collaboration and celebration. We called it “Layering and Pairing” during which we paired bites of food and drinks, specially crafted for our event, with a piece of jewelry.
Anuja’s tagline is “Embellish Your Body, Strengthen Your Soul”, and I couldn’t feel that more. The way we adorn our bodies often signifies the way in which we honor ourselves. When we feel confident and powerful, we stand tall in our strength. And evenings like these encourage us to lift each other up, a constant reminder that we’re all in it together!
Those who attended were all women yet diverse in their backgrounds. Some younger, some older, some black, some white, some Indian, some from Detroit, some from the burbs. A bit of everything, all connected because we’re all doing really inspiring things within our community. We’re all on “soul” purpose, using social media and influence to lead positively.
We gave each woman a box of crystals and gathered into a room outfitted in gorgeous flowers by Thrifty Florist. We had a champagne toast and dessert–all to celebrate the accomplishments and achievements we’re all doing within our communities. Each woman then shared about her horoscope and the jewelry piece she picked and layered.
The night was fun and interactive! All too often we spend time simply gossiping or sharing about what we’re doing this coming weekend. Let’s all strive to spend more time truly connecting with each other and looking deeper.
Anuja and I have known each other for years, having bonded about fertility and motherhood, and so we’ve continued to support one another. I was honored to cohost this event with her!
