For over 7 years, I have supported and collaborated with Starfish Family Services because the services they provide local Detroit families are second to none. As a mother, I want every child to have all the opportunities and have a fulfilling, fun, loving childhood. Typically, my annual fundraiser for Starfish is the Victoria Secret Fashion Show extravaganza with my girlfriends. But this year, especially since the fashion show is no more, I, along with some of my closest friends, are tackling a bigger feat, a bigger need that Starfish has. One that will greatly affect so many more lives.Starfish is on a mission to build a classroom for preschoolers at their headquarters. Many parents are uncomfortable with off-site visits and we want their children to still benefit from the support and services Starfish offers. We are raising money, $20,000 to be exact, to convert the lunchroom into a preschool room. This is our Starfish Family Services Annual Fundraiser to build a new classroom.
My girlfriends and I have formed a bit of our own board committee, leveraging our own personal networks, to surpass our goal of $20k. We’re making this a reality.
I’m so grateful for some of my best friends who are helping me out on this project. It takes a village.Though it’s cheesy to say, it’s true: We’re a group of moms on a mission. We are joining forces with the other mothers associated with Starfish to make that much more of an impact.
We’re really committed to all children. Not just our biological children but those of our community.
