“THANK YOU!!!!” only scratches the surface to express the overwhelming gratitude I feel for all the amazing women who came to the Countdown To Baby Launch Party in November. Just wow! The energy in the room at Birmingham Country Club confirms what I have been feeling for a while: That as we approach the start of a new decade, women, more than ever before, are stepping into their power, are wanting to have more vulnerable conversations about real things, and are craving and seeking out support from one another. What an exciting time to be a woman!

At the launch party, we had a panel of three experts I handpicked to discuss and spark conversations around topics related to childbirth and motherhood:

• Kristin Lacy, a doula with Birth And More Wellness, who focused on preparing for birth and understanding your changing body
• Dr. Sruti March, a doctor of Natural Medicine, who discussed wellness and nutrition
Hillary Follis, a therapist, who spoke about mental health especially as it relates to postpartum depression and anxiety

 After the Q&A panel, we opened up the discussion to questions from the audience. Everyone was so vulnerable, sharing their stories of happiness and pain, excitement and fear, many crying.

A few days after the event, I ran into a friend who said, “You’re on to something with these events.” These conversations are so real and eye-opening. Women are reclaiming, stepping into, and taking control of their power; we are no longer suffering or feeling victimized, especially around pregnancy and birth!

Again, thank you to all the women for SHOWING UP! Just not physically but emotionally and spiritually. I’m blessed to live among a community of women who want to support and embrace one another. I encourage everyone to join the conversation!
