Birthdays are always such a fun way to shower the people we love with affection and appreciation. We tend to often want to celebrate others but when it comes to our own birthdays we can be a bit off-putting, fearful of getting another year older. This year, I did no such thing! I took full advantage of celebrating another trip around the sun, one year older, one year wiser. I made the most of it with the best birthday celebration in NYC and Detroit with family and friends!
I started off the celebrations with my husband Bart in New York City. We flew in for one night without the kids to see Hamilton on Broadway. It was spectacular! The acting was amazing, the songs were phenomenal. It was sensory overload, appealing on all levels. After the show we spent the night in true NYC fashion, hopping from one rooftop bar to the next, riding around in pedicabs, doing all my favorite things. Bart is such a go-with-the-flow husband; he’s up for anything!
On my actual birthday night, we celebrated at home with the kids, cooking dinner and going out for ice cream. Nights like these are really what makes my heart most full. My kids are my everything, and I just love seeing them smile and giggle. That’s the best birthday present ever!
The next day, I threw a birthday soiree with 20 of my closest friends and Bart at Cafe Cortina, my favorite restaurant in Detroit. A DJ handled the music, and we danced the night away with good food, good wine, and good friends. How lucky am I to have such an amazing support system! The dress I wore is from matchesfashion.com by self-portrait; I loved it so much! Bart did an opening toast, thanking everyone for coming.
So to all my ladies, thank you for all the gifts and love. I couldn’t ask for anything better!
