Nailing Your Pregnancy Photoshoot

by | Sep 23, 2016 | Beauty, Pregnancy

I believe every momma-to-be deserves a pregnancy photoshoot! It’s one of the best ways for us to honor our baby-making bodies and immortalize how we look during our journey to create life. After countless photoshoots, I have learned a few tricks and tips on nailing your pregnancy photoshoot to help ensure your photos make you look radiant. And the best part is you don’t have to be or look like a “model” or spend a ton of money!

Here are 6 ways to nail your pregnancy photoshoot:

Plan

Planning ensures everyone is on the same page and your shoot is organized. I love to have sample photographs on hand for inspiration about different looks and poses that are similar to what I’m trying to achieve. Instagram is a great place to find beautiful images to replicate.

Be Realistic

The truth is not every photo is going to be amazing. And that’s okay! I always go into a shoot hoping for 2-3 final edits with which I’m happy. Anything more than that is a bonus.

Hair and Makeup

If you don’t have the time or resources to schedule a trip to a salon, ask a trusted friend to do your hair and makeup. Looking and feeling glamorous the day of your shoot is a top priority. Trust me! It’ll accentuate your already beaming “pregnancy glow.”

Different Looks

There are so many ways you can capture the essence and beauty of your pregnancy through photographs, so consider doing a few different outfit changes and poses. Use your inspiration photos to change it up. Personally, I love profile belly shots as well as black and whites.

Trust Your Photographer

You don’t necessarily have to hire the most expensive photographer…but whoever takes your pictures, make sure you trust him/her and his/her work. Your photographer should understand your concept and be able and willing to interpret it through the lens.

Share Your Photos

Pick your best images and share them with friends and family. They want to see how beautiful you look too! Be proud and own it. AND, don’t forget to print your favorites and frame them.

Hopefully these tips are helpful if you schedule a shoot. And, if you have any advice or tips to add to this list, share them in the comment section below!
