This Friday, I invite you to get involved and contribute to the Toy & Book Drive for Starfish Family Services!
Over the past couple weeks, while renovating my basement, I’ve noticed piles and piles of toys and books stored away in every nook and cranny. So many extra things that, quite honestly, my kids either have outgrown or have replicates of. Toy kitchen sets, 4 copies of the same book. Too many things not being used! Too much clutter!
I’m so thankful my kids have toys with which to play and books to read. But many other children don’t have these luxuries. Luxuries that really are necessities for every child to develop fully. So I’m taking this opportunity to not only clean house but give to those in need.
Starfish Family Services has a new library and always accepts book donations and toys. Local families and therapists then use them in their group sessions.
Like everything in life, there’s a lesson to learn in every situation. What a powerful opportunity and conversation piece to teach our children how to be the change, how to be better people, and how to give back!
From 9am – 12pm, on Friday, May 25 at 520 N. Main Street in Royal Oak, please bring your gently used books and toys to donate so all the children in our community have the chance to play and learn.
