After a long, dark, freezing winter, your body and soul desperately crave warmth and sunshine. Everyone, especially in Michigan, waits for the first signs of Spring, the feeling of freedom and rebirth so invigorating and long overdue! Springtime is the perfect opportunity to get out of your winter rut. You know, when we’ve spent way more hours than usual in our pajamas, when we’ve eaten way too much at holiday parties and on snow days, and when we’ve slacked off from being disciplined and skipped too many workouts because we felt lethargic. This April I challenge you to reboot and implement stronger practices and rituals. Let’s all get inspired to shed those winter layers–physically and emotionally. My newest obsession is RPM Fitness in Birmingham.

We must make sure we focus on all components of wellness: mind, body, and soul. 

RPM Fitness caters to women, since their scheduling is flexible. They don’t give you grief if you have to reschedule…which happens as moms, juggling our kids’ crazy calendars.

I get a really amazing personalized workout, just around the corner from my house, 2x a week for 30 minutes each and it does wonders for my body and sanity! That’s the one thing I do for myself. There are always a lot of trainers available to help you modify to fit your goals and abilities. You can choose from small group trainings or personal training (which is what I prefer). Their high intensity workouts (HIIT training) makes each 30-minute workout effective and to the point. You get in, get it done, and get out!

What we eat is obviously a big component of our fitness too. You can’t just work out intensely; you must also mindfully eat. I mostly follow a plant-based diet and sometimes incorporate fish. A pescatarian of sorts if we want to put a label on it. Fuel your body well!
