14 Questions With Lifestyle Blogger Bridjet Morris!

by | Jun 11, 2019 | Lifestyle

I’m a lifestyle blogger because connection to me is the meaning of life. I want to connect with other powerful women who want to be more and do more. And so with that in mind, I’m answering the most common questions I get asked so you get to know me just a little bit better! I’d love to know how you’d answer these in the comments below!

Here’s 14 questions with lifestyle blogger Bridjet Morris:

1. How’d you and Bart meet?

Our mutual friend Rochelle of Pearlesque Box (the monthly skincare subscription I love!) introduced us over 15 years ago. I was only 23 years old, recently single, and not looking for anything serious nor was Bart. Then, slowly but surely, as Bart and I became better and better friends, spending more and more time together, the relationship evolved. I take credit for making the first move. A few glasses of wine gave me just enough courage! The rest is history.

2. What’s your favorite restaurant in the Detroit area?

Cafe Cortina in Farmington Hills is my absolute favorite, go-to spot when we’re celebrating and having a memorable dinner.  (In fact, I just had my birthday dinner there!) Family-owned and operated, I just love how welcoming and accommodating the owners and staff are. We’ve become friends with the owner and her son, and so it’s always nice to support people we love! Plus, Cafe Cortina has the most delicious ravioli you’ll ever eat. Ever.

3. What’s your morning ritual like?

If I’m being disciplined, I wake up at 6:30am, 30 minutes before the kids do, to write in my gratitude journal and plan my day. The quietness of the morning grants me the space to clear my mind while in my sacred space. I also dose myself with my go-to products from FACE, a local wellness spa, and drink my green tea. Then I hit the ground running with the kids, out the door by 8:10am!

4. Where do you most often shop?

Being a mom, I don’t usually have time to go to stores and shop, so I find myself online most often. My favorites are FWRD by Elyse Walkerand Matches Fashion. However, when I do get a chance to shop in person, I either hit up Target (because, let’s get real, who doesn’t love Target?!) or occasionally splurge at Saks (where I also love to host fun girls night out events!).

5. How’d you choose your kids’ names?

I picked Roman, and Bart picked Isabella. I was torn between Roman and Charlie but ultimately went with Roman. Plus, it hinted at my love for Italy. A couple years later, While Bart, Roman, and I (9 months pregnant) were vacationing in Florence, Bart fell in love with the beauty of the Saint Mary of the Flower cathedral and decided to name our soon-to-arrive baby girl Isabella. The next morning, while on a stroll, he stopped into an embroidery shop on the cobblestone streets, and had the name Isabella embroidered on a bib. He surprised me with the gift back in the hotel room. I definitely pushed my travel boundary as a pregnant woman, but the trip turned out amazingly! (Here’s a photoshoot while pregnant in Italy!)

6. What’s your dream travel destination?

I’m a huge believer in manifesting our visions and desires. And so lately I’ve been visualizing and getting super excited about traveling farther distances with the kids so we can go to places like Bali and Africa for a safari. Those are the two big ones on my bucket list. The kids are getting bigger, older, and a bit more independent, so traveling is definitely becoming a bit easier. Traveling as a family is so fulfilling!

7. What’s your favorite local hidden gem?

The Baldwin Public Library in Birmingham is one of my favorite hideaways. I love being surrounded by books on top of books, nestling into a little nook with my laptop and brainstorming new blog posts.

8. What makes you feel most beautiful?

From the inside, when I connect genuinely with other women in my community and feel understood and seen, I feel myself radiate and smile even bigger, directly affecting others’ beauty and happiness. I have never felt more beautiful than while pregnant. I also feel beauty stem from my confidence in my relationship with my husband. Of course, getting all dolled up and taking the time to look my best is always a good way to feel beautiful too!

9. Would you rather a girls’ night out or a night home with your family cooking and relaxing?

Night in for sure! Cooking and hanging out with the kids and Bart is one of my favorite things. Even though I love the glitz and glam of going out, nothing feels more satisfying than connecting as a family and pouring all our love into the kids. Cooking an early dinner followed by an outside activity, like the park, before bed is our preferred plan. It’s also when I get a chance to take photos of the kids, running and playing, capturing all these special moments.

10. Do you have support raising the kids?

Raising kids is hard work! I commend every woman and man who has taken on this role. I’ve learned to welcome the support and guidance of many other women and caretakers, including my sister Madison who’s our nanny, Linda who comes in the early mornings (and speaks Italian to the kids, which I love), and various high school babysitters (when Bart and I need a weekend night out). I have a whole tribe of women who help support me, Bart, and the kids, and I couldn’t be more grateful. While, yes, Bart is so hands-on and supportive, I can’t always rely on him because he too is running out of the house to work. I always tell other women to never feel shameful asking for help. My kids have taught me to slow down and appreciate the little moments, and having support raising the kids makes that even more possible!

11. Where do you get your glam done?

I’m a regular at Nude Salon and the DryBar, both in Birmingham, conveniently right down the street from my house. I’ve also been loving Artisté Salon where my friend Marianna is a makeup artist. They do makeup and hair, so it’s a one-stop shop. (I always try to stop into She Boutique as well since it’s next door to Artisté!)

12. What do you eat?

Guacamole every day! But seriously, I do! We all do in the Morris household. I eat a mostly plant-based diet, incorporating some fish occasionally. If we’re at a nice restaurant and they have wild caught fish, I’ll indulge. Sometimes we also buy salmon to cook. But as a rule of thumb, our family never eats red meat, chicken, or turkey. That’s just what has seemed to work for us the past 9 or so years. Most mornings, I eat loaded oatmeal topped with hemp seeds, walnuts, cocoa powder, and/or chia seeds. And in the evenings, we cook from The Oh She Glows Cookbook. It’s like our Bible. Bart and I collaborate on the menu, I do the grocery shopping and prep, and typically he actually prepares it while I’m playing with the kids and getting things ready. When he comes home from work, we talk about family business and what’s happening with the kids, all centered around the kitchen and nourishing our bodies. I love it!

13. How do you center yourself?

I center myself by unplugging from all distractions, including my phone and social media, getting outside, indulging in self-care, using my crystals, meditating, and journaling. I frequently visit the Boston Tea Room in Ferndale, douted as Michigan’s oldest, most respected psychic venue, for crystals and self-connection books. I find that spiritual connection helps me stay sane with two little ones.

14. What are you most excited about in the upcoming months?

I’ve been eagerly awaiting the release of my online course Countdown To Baby. I’ve spent the past year pouring my heart and soul into creating a program that honors women who are pregnant and want to feel more empowered to do what we’re made to do!
