When my girlfriends found out I was having a girl, I think they were more excited than I! Pink and bows and frilly dresses clouded their eyesight. And I loved their enthusiasm. So of course we celebrated with a baby sprinkle!
When I had Roman, my friends and husband threw me a huge baby shower, gifting me all the baby essentials like strollers and cradles and more. But as typical for a second child, that overblown shower wasn’t necessary.
On a clear, peaceful Thursday evening, my closest girlfriends, mom, sisters and husband gathered at Cafe Cortina in Farmington, Michigan for drinks on the patio and dinner, family-style. The fireplace was roaring and tables were adorned with roses and lilies and orchids and candles.
My husband Bart made a toast to all the women, thanking us for “what you all do and the amount of work you do to raise our children.” We celebrated the baby girl growing inside my belly, and it was perfect!
